From FAT to FIT

I started my weight-loss journey shortly after the new year began, and just like the rest I was impatient and wanted to see immediate results. Unfortunately, the results I wanted to achieve were rather unrealistic and therefore, I needed to train myself to accept a slow, but steady change. Three months later, I realized all my hard work was finally paying off, and with my new-found confidence I was able to continue my journey and adapt to an ever-changing routine, and I have never felt better about myself.

I didn’t do this on my own however, and it took a lot of time to learn all I could about nutrition, muscle structure and composition, and a variety of different weight-training techniques combined with high-intensity interval training (HIIT).

With the help of Arnel Ricafranca and his free online program, IWantSixPackAbs.com I achieved realistic results in a matter of a few months. It was utter dedication, and complete determination that allowed me lose 16 pounds, and go from approximately 25% body fat to less than 15% body fat in these three months. But, it wasn’t an easy task.

I understand how easily discouraged you can get these days, there are so many uneducated  yet careless individuals who don’t know how much damage they are causing themselves by simply ordering a combo meal at the burger stand. I often ask myself, how much weight must you put on to finally realize that you’re going towards a downward spiral of unhealthy eating choices and bad habits? Obviously, you didn’t gain those extra fifty, sixty or seventy pounds overnight, right? So we must be realistic and convince ourselves that in order to reach your ultimate weight-loss goal it will take self-discipline and hard work to reach your ultimate goal. Once again, you didn’t gain all those extra pounds overnight and therefore you will not lose all those extra pounds overnight either.

I am now a Certified Personal Trainer through the International Sports & Sciences Association and I pride myself in helping people feel better about themselves by setting realistic goals and showing them how to get there. For those who simply don’t like to work out, there is relief in sight because although exercise is a proven-method for weight loss you must also know that 80% of your goals will most likely be from a change in your diet, and the remaining 20% is from what you do inside the gym.

Now, times are tough. Personal Training is a luxury these days, but people will always stray and people will always need that “life coach” to show them how to reach their goals in the most efficient way possible for you. My personal training began at home, with a simple pull-up bar, a set of resistance bands (or tubes), and a 2” rope. If I did it without a gym membership, you can too! Now you have no excuse not to lose weight and exercise, there is already a free program available online you can do at home. I will be launching my own Personal Training website shortly, in the meantime should you have questions I can easily be reached via e-mail at pedroaperez82@yahoo.com
