That darned spare tire is a problem that many men face and can be the most annoying to overcome. The women who have love handles and a pooch of a belly might call it a "muffin top." Some tips to losing love handles are described below, which are going to help you get in the best shape you can be and to never lose that shape again.

First things first. The pantry. There are a few things to think about if you're wondering how to lose love handles. Get rid of the junk food. Get rid of means throw it out, give it away - not consume it yourself. Yes, that's right, all the pop, candy, chips, cookies...anything in your cupboard that has sugar. Do you how just how bad junk food is for your body? If you don't, do this first, and in a short time, probably the first week, when you drop a few pounds you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. The problem with junk food is that there is such a high sugar content that it's destructive and harmful to your health. If your body is given the choice - it will turn that sugar into fat and place it around your belly - thus, creating the dreaded love handles.

The second tip to losing love handles is to get educated about carbohydrates. Carbohydrates have really gotten a bad rap in recent past. The fact is that not all carbohydrates are bad. There are in fact good carbs that are crucial to your body's health. They act as fuel for your body. Now - just because you learn what a good carb is, does not mean that you can eat as much as you want, whenever you want, you will still need to gage how much and when.

If are looking for an example of what bad carbohydrates might be, they are foods that contain refined flours. You can find this in white bread, white pasta, donuts, cakes and biscuits. Your body treats these carbs differently than the good carbs. Good carbs stay with you longer, meaning they keep you full longer, and they also burn better in your body. These would be whole wheat pasta, brown rice, and surprisingly, even fruit.

You might think that exercise is the main focus when losing love handles, but in reality, it starts in the kitchen.
